Latex Balloon Printing

To print on to latex balloons we use a screen printing method. Each balloon is approximately 3/4 inflated, then depressed to flatten the balloon as much as possible before commencing printing, this also aids reduction of movement.
On each balloon we position the screens, then pass through some balloons whilst setting the artwork up. We use the balloons to show where the movement is and then we reposition the screens accordingly. Once we have the artwork printing as close as possible to the artwork approval we commence printing the customers order.
As balloons are 3 dimensional it is impossible for movement not to happen during printing. Depending on the artwork, depends whether the movement is visible and how much the artwork moves. Any artwork where different colours meet will incur more movement, which will be visible. This generally, will also result in discolouration as the inks will overprint.
On receiving an order and artwork from our customer, we, if a multi-coloured print, separate the artwork into the different colours to create the different screens. Depending on the artwork supplied determines how we do this, and also determines whether we can help to reduce problematic issues when printing.
The best type of files for artwork are ai, eps or corel draw. We can use jpeg and tiff files, however we are unable to manipulate these files and therefore the artwork is at it is and we cannot help any areas when printing.
When we send our artwork approvals off we word any causions, worries etc based on the artwork sent through. On signing off the artwork approval our customer is agreeing to this approval and all it's content.
A print produced on to a balloon cannot be compared in either colours or registration to the same print on to other medium, e.g. banners, mugs, flyers etc. As each of our balloons gets filled with air in order to print the artwork, they become flexible and are therefore inconsistent unlike flat materials. Although we try and maintain the prints, we cannot guarantee the movement will always be the same and therefore the artwork for each balloon.
Latex Balloons
Suitable for both helium and air inflation. Latex balloons should be fully inflated to achieve their true colour.
Latex balloons should be stored between 15° - 30°C at all times. They should be kept out of direct sunlight and high humidity conditions.
Latex balloons should not be released in to the environment with any form of plastic or ribbon attached, including helium valves. Only biodegradable products should be used for outdoor events.
Can be used with helium valves, cups & sticks, ribbon, pre-coiled ribbon, hand pumps & inflators, balloon weights, led lights, safe tite discs, balloon seals and much much more . . . . . .
Puffin Balloons
.jpg)
Benefits & features:
5" metallic balloons are not suitable for helium inflation - they do not hold enough helium to allow the balloon to float (hi-float can create some floatation time, e.g. 1hr +)
Metallic hearts are not suitable for use with helium valves - the combination of the balloon weight and the valve is too heavy to allow the balloon to float
Up to 8 hours floatation time on Puffin Printing Balloons
Up to 6 hours floatation time on Puffin Decor Balloons - including hearts

Recommend not to release outdoors

Biodegradability

Biodegradability & the environment
Latex balloons used in mass releases are produced from the sap of the rubber tree. It's collected without harming the tree by using an environmentally safe, age-old process similar to that used for collecting the sap from maple trees for making syrup.
Because of rubber's versatility and high demand, these tropical rain forest trees are very valuable and highly coveted. Equally important, these precious trees play a key role in the earth's fragile ecological balance by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, which helps prevent global warming. As a result, the world's rubber trees are well-protected natural resources.
Consequently, a latex balloon - the only type used in mass releases - is made from 100% organic material and 100% biodegradable. Stress caused by inflation starts the decomposition cycle. Exposure to sunlight accelerates the process - oxygen and ozone continue the molecular attack even in the dark. Deterioration is clearly evident within a few hours - it begins to oxidize or 'frost' - and soon the balloon will break apart in to small pieces.
Research has shown that under the same conditions latex decomposes as quickly as an oak leaf.
